NAWA: Majika - Interactive Immersive Room with Ball-Throwing Mechanics
An immersive room installation that draws visitors into a magical world while they play by throwing balls to interact with visual content projected on the walls.
Starting in August 2025, NAWA Experience collaborated with Museum Bank Mandiri to open an immersive experience attraction titled “NAWA: Majika”. The attraction was designed to enchant visitors and immerse them in a fantasy world filled with magical powers, spirits, and fairies.
At one point in the immersive journey, visitors are invited to enter a room where almost every side is projected with eye-catching visual content.
Meanwhile, the room’s floor is filled with plastic balls that not only create a ball-pit play area, but also function as interactive media that trigger direct interactions with the projected visuals when thrown at the walls.
The attraction’s visual content is presented through a narrated storyline divided into nine stages. Among those stages, I was responsible for developing two interactive stages.
Here is a detailed explanation of those two interactive stages.
Lantern Stage, in this session, magical lanterns appear on the walls. Throwing a ball at a lantern makes it glow brighter. Each brightness level has a different lantern visual, creating a satisfying moment for visitors as they light them up.
Firework Rocket Stage, in this session, the walls are decorated with firework rockets flying in from every direction. Each ball thrown at a rocket triggers a festive and magical firework explosion.
